Aggressive Mechanical Shape Checking In ANSYS Mechanical(Illustrated Expression)

Meshing is very important parameter in finite element methods(FEM). It is very important to adjust the meshing according to the problem or physical situation in various FEA softwares. ANSYS also offers very flexible meshing options to FEA analyses in ANSYS. In Mechanical Base, we introduce the the whole meshing options in ANSYS Mechanical to obtain most correct FEA solutions.

One of these options is Shape Checking options in ANSYS Meshing. And we will show the what are the ‘Aggresive Mechanical’ option in ‘Shape Checking’ in ANSYS Mechanical meshing options.

Where To Use ‘Aggressive Mechanical’ Option Of Shape Checking In ANSYS Meshing?

Change the Shape Checking criterion to ‘Aggresive Mechanical’ in ANSYS Meshing.

As you can see above the default Shape Checking option is Standard Mechanical. You can change the the Shape Checking option of Meshing to Aggresive Mechanical as show by red box and red arrow above.

Aggressive Mechanical meshing is mush more restrictive meshing options than Standard Mechanical, that uses much more tighter Jacobian ratio at nodes. So, shape failure in Aggresive Mechanical option is much more possible. Also Aggressive Mechanical option creates much more dense mesh structure, and this takes much more computational times compared to Standard Mechanical.

By considering all of these facts about Aggresive Mechanical option of Shape Checking, this meshing criterion much more suitable to Nonlinear Analyses or large deformation analyses.
