Drawing Partial Ellipse In Solidworks Sketching(Illustrated Expression)
In this paper, we will show you how to obtain partial ellipse sketches in Solidworks sketching. Solidworks has various kinds of ellipse drawing commands that provides very efficient ellipse drawing to create 3D geometries from them.
You can find lots of informative articles about Solidworks in Mechanical Base to learn Solidworks completely. Visit the main page!
How To Draw Partial Ellipses In Solidworks Sketching?
To draw this kind of ellipse in Solidworks sketching, click on little pop-up menu as shown by blue arrow above then click on Partial Ellipse command as in blue box above.
After entering to the Partial Ellipse command in Solidworks, select a proper plane or feature surface to draw partial ellipse.
After selecting the plane or a surface, select the center point by clicking on sketching plane as shown by blue arrow above. The information at the left side of photo shows the major and minur radius values of partial ellipse according to the location of the cursor in Solidworks sketching.
After selecting of center point of ellipse, select the second point to define one of its radius value as shown by blue arrow above. The information is still there according to cursor location in Solidworks sketching.
Define the third point that will be the second radius value of ellipse as shown by blue arrow above. And define the partial ellipse by dragging your mouse as shown by green arrow. Where you click your mouse, the partial ellipse will be created up to that point in Solidworks sketching.
The partial arc is created as above with Partial Ellipse command in Solidworks sketching.
If you select the ‘For Construction’ option as in green box above, the drawn geometry will be as shown by green arrow in Solidworks.
You can also enter the partial ellipse’s parameters manually as above. You can enter the center point X and Y coordinates from red box. Enter the starting point X and Y coordinates from red box. Enter the ending point parameters from blue box then enter the major and minor radius values as in orange box. You can enter the angle value also as shown by orange arrow in Solidworks sketching. But these parameters can be interdependent to each other.
Drawing of partial ellipse with Partial Ellipse command in Solidworks is very easy like that!
