Drawing Ellipse In Solidworks Sketching(Illustrated Expression)
In this article of Mechanical Base, we will show you how to drill or obtaian standard sized threaded hole on 3D geometries in Siemens NX. This is very important feature of Siemens NX that you can create threaded holes that are generally used in mechanical applications. In this text, we will show all the features of drilling threaded holes in Siemens NX.
You can find the articles about other standard size hole drilling commands in Mechanical Base.
To drill the standard-sized threaded hole in Siemens NX, click on the Hole command as shown by red arrow above.
After entering to the Hole command, select the Threaded Hole from the pop up menu as shown by green arrow above in Siemens NX.
In Position section shown by red box above, you need to select the face that you want to create the holes on it as shown by green arrow above.
After the face is selected, a special section will be opened. In this section you can select the exact hole locations by putting points with your mouse as shown by green arrows above. If you complete the specification of points, click on Finish from the right-top section to turn back to Hole command.
You can select the direction of your threaded holes from the red box;
Normal To Face: The threaded hole is drilled normal to the selected face.
Along Vector: Also you can select a line or a axis to define the hole’s direction from the drawing scheme in Siemens NX.
In Thread Dimensions, select the hole size as shown by red box above such as M10X1.5, M20X2.5 etc. in Siemens NX.
Select a radial engage value for your threaded hole in Hole command either 0.75 or 0.5. Also you can enter your custom value if you select Custom option in red box above in Siemens NX.
You can select a standard depth type from red box such as 1.5xDiameter which will define the up to where the threads of hole will be drilled.
Custom: You can enter a custom value for thread depth.
Full: You can make the full threaded hole by selecting it from red box above.
As you know thread geometries are generally be right handed or left handed. Select one of them from above for your threaded hole.
You can select a depth determination method as in red box above in Siemens NX;
Value: You will enter a depth value for the threaded hole.
Until Selected: The depth of threaded hole will be drilled up to selected face or feature in this method.
Until Next: The depth of threaded hole will be drilled up to other feature in it’s extension.
Through Body: The whole body will be drilled.
The depth option will be determined according to this selection;
Cylinder Bottom: Depth will be determined according to cylinder bottom as shown by red arrow.
Cone Tip: Depth will be determined according to cone tip as shown by green arrow.
You can enter a angle value for define the cone tip angle as shown by green arrow above.
You can Enable the Relief option in the green box that gives the geometric shapes as shown by green arrows above.
You can enable or disable the Relief Chamfer for the threaded hole that will be drilled in Siemens NX.
You can adjust the chamferin options for threaded hole as shown by green arrow above in Siemens NX. You can enable or disable this.
You can select a threaded hole standard such as ANSI, DIN etc. And you can define a Tolerance value as shown by green arrow above.
Click OK to finish the threaded hole drilling operation as shown by red arrow above.
Hole drilling is very basic as you can see in Siemens NX.
