Edge Blend command in Siemens NX is very versatile command to obtain blended edges or filleted edges in various shapes. In this article we will explain the whole features of ‘Edge Blend’ command in Siemens NX.
We will explain the use of Edge Blend command with a very basic example as you see above. Click on Edge Blend command as shown by green arrow above.
Tthe use of Edge Blend is very basic. Just select the required edges to be filleted as shown by green and red arrows above, then enter a radius value as shown in red box. You can select the entities as list separately. For example edges that shown by green arrows and edges that shown by red arrows are selected separately as list.
Select your edges and enter your radius value then click on little ‘Add New Set’ button beneath the Radius value to add a new element yo your list.
You can also obtain your fillet geometry with changing radius. What need to do is, click on Specify Radius Point inside the Variable Radius section, then select the locations on the blended edges as shown red arrow, enter radius values to all of these points separately. You can change the points and these radius values frim the Variable Radius list.
You can also specify setback values in three directions of a selected corner in ‘Corner Setback’ section. To do this, just click on ‘Select End Point’ as shown in red box above, then select your corner that is intersection point of edge blends as shown by red arrow. Then enter the setback distance values separately in each directions as shown by green arrows above in Siemens NX.
You can end the fillet geometry inside a somewhere of selected edge as you see above. To do it, click on ‘Select End Point’ as shown in green box above in ‘Stop Short Of Corner’ section. Select a edge blend end point as shown by green arrow above, then enter a value that where the edge blend fillet will end as shown by red arrow.
Also you can enter this distance value as a percentage about edge length with the option that is shown in red box above.
You can also define your edge blend geometries as ‘Conic’ shape by selecting the Conic as shown by red arrow above. You need to enter a Boundry Radius and a Center Radius values for conically shaped edge blends in Siemens NX.
