Shell Command In Solidworks(Illustrated Expression)


In this article of Mechanial Base we will show you how to convert 3D geometries in Solidworks to basket-like geometries with Shell command. Obtaining basket-like features is very easy by using this command in Solidworks.

How To Use Shell Command In Solidworks?

Click on Shell command in Solidworks.

To obtain  basket-like geometries in Solidworks, click on the Shell command as shown by red arrow above.

Select a proper face from 3D geometry.

To use Shell feature, select a face that will be open side of the basket structure as shown by red arrow above. Also enter a Shell value from red box region. This value will be the Wall thickness of the Shell geometry.

blankClick on Shell outward in Shell command.

If you click on Shell outward option as in red box above in Shell command, the Shell feature will be created as shown by red arrow that Wall thichnees will be given outward sense.

You can use multi-thickness option in Shell command.

You can also use multi-thickness option in Shell command that you select faces to be different thickness, then enter a thickness values for these faces as shown in red box above. The thickness results are shown by red arrows above.

Complete the Shell operation in Solidworks.
