Download And Install Solidworks 2020(Illustrated Expression)
In general engineering applications, the geometries or machine parts have standard hole sized that drilled on them for being proper for screws etc. attached to them. If you making a machine part design in Solidworks, there is a special tool that you could drill standard sized holes to 3D geometries, called Hole Wizard. In this article we will tell about how to use the Hole Wizard command in Solidworks, what are the feature of Hole Wizard command in Solidworks.
YOU CAN LEARN SolidWorks IN MECHANICAL BASE; Click And Start To Learn Solidworks!
For example you want to drill standard holes on a part above, to do it you need to open the Hole Wizard command as shown by red arrow above.
After the opening the Hole Wizard command, you could select your hole type from red red box above, and you could select the standard of that hole such as AISI, DIN etc. from the yellow box.
Also the hole types are appeared below the Standard selection box that we told above in Hole Wizard command, you could select you hole type according to the selected standards. These hole types for example, belongs to AISI standards.
In Hole Wizard command, you could also select the Hole size according to the selected standards. For example in AISI standards, the hole size changes as M5, M6 etc…
You could select the fitting of your hole in Hole Wizard command in Solidworks. Loose will drill your hole to make a loose fitting with its bolt, close will be very tight for its bolt when it assembled.
When you specified your standard hole specifications in Hole Wizard command in Solidworks, you can select the method of your hole from these options above;
Through All: Your hole will be drilled from all the geometries in the drawing screen in the hole direction with Hole Wizard command in Solidworks.
Up To Next: The hole will be drilled up next geometry after the first drilled geometry. The next geometry or feature will ne be drilled with Hole Wizard command in Solidworks.
Up To Vertex: The hole will be drilled up to the vertex that you selected in drawing with Hole Wizard command in Solidworks.
Up To Surface: The hole will be drilled up to the surface of a geometry or a feature in drawing with Hole Wizard command in Solidworks.
Offset From Surface: You could start the drilling operation from a distance that you entered from a surface that selected in drawing with Hole Wizard command in Solidworks.
So you could specify other technical features of your hole, these options are very advanced taht you could specify according to your requirements in Hole Wizard command in Solidworks.
After the whole adjustments are done in Hole Wizard command in Solidworks, you need to specify hole locations by clicking on the Positions tab in Hole Wizard command as hown by green arrow above.
So you could select the locations of your hole simply clicking on the required points on the geometry’s surface in Hole Wizard command in Solidworks.
So you could complete the obtaining standard holes in Hole Wizard command in Solidworks by clicking on the green yes symbol as shown by green arrow above.
You can see the standard drilled holes above the 3D geometry by using Hole Wizard command in Solidworks.
