Subtracting 3D Bodies From Themselves In Siemens NX(Illustrated Expression)

You can subtract or carve out a body with another body that intersects to this in Siemens NX. This is very useful tool to obtain required geometries in certain situations. In this article we will explain how to carve out a body with another body in Siemens NX.

How To Use Subtract Command In Siemens NX?

Subtract command will be used on these bodies in Siemens NX.

For example, we will carve the body that shown by red arrow above with the body that shown by blue arrow with ‘Subtract’ command in Siemens NX.

Click on ‘Subtract’ command in Siemens NX.

To subtract a body in Siemens NX, click on the little opo up menu as shown by red arrow above then click on the ‘Subtract’ command as shown in red box.

Select ‘Target’ and ‘Tool’ bodies for Subtract command in Siemens NX.

We selected the target body as shown by red arrow that will be carved out. Also we selected the tool body that will be used for carve out other body as shown by blue arrow above. Also you can select ‘Keep Target’ or ‘Keep Tool’ as shown in blue box, if you want to keep target or tool bodies after subtracting operation in Siemens NX.

Then click on OK or Apply to complete the subtracting operation in Siemens NX.
